|
| What is Panhellenic Council? |
| Panhellenic Council is the governing body that oversees the 11 OSU National Panhellenic Conference sororities. The council is composed of eight executive officers and delegates from each of the 11 chapters. Together, we work as a unified group to facilitate Formal Fall Recruitment, sponsor a number of campus and community projects and promote academic achievement. Panhellenic also encourages forming relationships with individual chapters, university administration and other campus and community groups. We want Greek life to be associated with a positvie image. Panhellenic cooperates with all 11 sororities to ensure this is achievable. |

| Panhellenic Creed |
|
We, as undergraduate members of women's fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its best possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities.
We, as fraternity women, stand for service through the development of character inspired by close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.

Mid-American Greek Councils Association (MGCA) Conference
The MGCA Awards are designed specifically to assist councils in achieving the highest level of excellence possible in their programming and council management. The awards outline the actions and policies of an ideal council. As such, if councils utilize the MGCA Awards for goal setting and as a guide for action and visionary accomplishment, they will be well on the road to achieving excellence.
The process of preparing an award application in and of itself will assist the council in evaluating its programs and services. The submission of an application gives the council an opportunity to have its programs evaluated by outside experts who will provide written and verbal feedback. (www.mgca.org)
The OSU Panhellenic Council took home awards of excellence in the following areas:
2010: In 2010, the OSU Panhellenic Council won awards from the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values and the National Black Greek Leadership Conference (AFLV/NBGLC) in all possible eight categories. Panhellenic Women Strive For
Academics
|
Sororities concentrate on creating successful scholarship programs that help each member reach her educational goals. These programs include study hall, academic mentors or "buddies," detailed course study files and support technology.
Chapters take great pride in their academic efforts and encourage their members to make education a top priority. Because of this strong commitment to scholarship, the all-sorority average GPA has exceeded the OSU undergraduate all-women's average for more than 24 consecutive semesters. |

| Leadership |
Greek women and men hold 54 percent of the leadership positions on the Oklahoma State campus, including Student Government Association president, Orange Peel director and Homecoming executives. Greeks also serve as facilitators for President's Leadership Council, Camp Cowboy directors and counselors, representatives to college student councils and officers within a large number of other student organizations on campus.
Not only do Greeks seek out leadership positions on campus, but there are also opportunities to assume leadership roles within the individual chapters and within the community as a whole.
Sororities encourage active involvement in campus organizations and foster the skills necessary for their members to become strong women leaders. Additional leadership development programming within the chapters promotes interaction with Greek alumni and other community leaders who can help build a foundation for success after graduation. |

| Philanthropy and Service |
|
Sorority involvement in community service is a priority among all chapters at OSU. Greek women contribute volunteer efforts and monetary donations to a number of worthwhile local and national organizations.
The Panhellenic Council heavily supports Up 'Til Dawn, a university fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and participates in other campus-wide service projects such as Into the Streets and The Big Event. These projects, along with countless others, provide OSU Greek women the opportunity to grow as civic-minded leaders.

| Social Development |
Every OSU sorority offers a healthy balance of social activities that focus on sisterhood, friendship, tradition and fun! Individual chapters organize date parties, formals, dual-chapter functions, dinner exchanges, parents' weekends and membership retreats. They also compete in intramural sports, participate in Campus Life activities such as Spring Sing and Freshman Follies and attend OSU athletic events together.
Panhellenic promotes safety and discretion in all chapter-sponsored activities. Oklahoma state law and University policies regarding hazing and alcohol consumption are strictly enforced. Additionally, all chapters utilize their own risk management procedures to decrease the likelihood of accident or injury at Greek social events, and all social activities are registered through the OSU Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs.
